It’s one of the rare great healthy options in the areas it serves. Flame grilled chicken, steamed veggies, Mexican rice, the only sort of “unhealthy” thing off the top of my head is their great Mac N Cheese. Generally cheap too. I got amazing churros that were obviously freshly made.
Out-of-towners rant about In-N-Out, but they need to try El Pollo Loco too
Covers a lot of topics from a pagan/occult/magickal perspective, without the New Age woo that a lot of sites depend on. Dr Bones is an especially good writer for them. Good for people trying to experience spiritualism without abandoning rationality.
I can’t believe the obscure stuff I find here sometimes, not to mention more common books. I don’t use the science part much, but I’ve heard it’s top notch.
Lots of activity, various instances with cute domains, and great moderation features to deal with abusive instances. Using the ActivityPub standard, it works with all members of the greater Fediverse, including GNU Social, Hubzilla, and eventually lib.reviews. Not giving 5 stars until it supports groups and events, features critical for activist use.
Great little town for a quick vacation. Lots of wine tasting and Danish bakeries. Fun little stores. Good place to take a partner.
Great place for campers that want some amenities. The grounds include a general store that opens at 8am, which is too late for fishers, but the tackle shop opens at 6am with coffee and snacks.
Fun nature center, that’s great for kids, with knowledgeable docents. I’d recommend seeing the bats go out at night from their bat box. They also have a variety of events throughout the year.
There’s also a pool, bike rental, and boat rentals, including an accessible fishing dock for those with disabilities.
This is a large, well-kept park. Walking trails, Picnic and BBQ areas, tennis courts, batting cages, Farmer’s Market on Tuesday, and a recreation center for classes. Could use more bathrooms, and I miss the skate park.
Great variety of interesting and informative shows from a leftist and anarchist perspective. Most of the major shows are represented. They could use more of a focus on Free/Open Source Software, but I eventually dug up a working m3u files to listen in VLC.
They have a lot of contributers around the world, and their productions are great
It’s a fun server that’s pretty active. They have a good set of mods, so anything from advanced technics to home decorating is supported. The mobs are hard, but not too hard once you get diamond stuff. The mummies drop diamonds and die in the sun, so spend a couple starting gold on a house in a village and just wait.
I’m Baph in-game, or firstname.lastname@example.org on mastodon, I’m totally willing to hook up new users with gear, ore, a place to build, etc.
The forums are active, and the in-game chat is accessible from IRC or Matrix, as well as in-game. I don’t think any other server do that.
The group in charge, https://tchncs.de/, does a lot of cool projects too.
