Review: GNOME Terminator
A lightweight terminal with split screen features
terminator
is an alternative terminal emulator (for working on the command line). I replaced Ubuntu’s default GNOME terminal with it a while ago, and haven’t looked back since. It has intuitive split screen features (which is useful for monitoring multiple log files and such), tabs, profiles, customizable keybindings and editable titles.
It’s not bloated and loads very quickly. The preferences dialog is a bit of a mess, and it would be nice to make keybindings a bit more discoverable in menus and such. Still, the split screen feature alone makes it worth a try.
