Meist ist es ja genau anders herum. Es erscheint ein Film, welcher zum kommerziellen Erfolg wird und anschließend wird ein mehr oder meist weniger gutes Spiel zum Film herausgebracht. Bei Tetris erschein das Spiel zuerst vor mehreren Jahrzehnten und jetzt wird ein Film nachgereicht. Dieser erzählt die Geschichte des Weges aus der damaligen Sowjetunion bis auf den Game Boy von Nintendo.

Dabei spricht mich der Film als ein Kind der 1980 Jahre ganz besonders an. Die Musik, die Klamotten und das drumherum kommen mir sehr bekannt und vertraut vor. Und doch bin ich erschüttert wie Tetris in den sogenannten Westen gekommen ist. Der Trailer bei YouTube vermittelt dazu einen guten Eindruck.

Insgesamt ein sehr kurzweiliger Film mit Happy End über das Spiel, mit dem ich am Game Boy etliche Tage meines Lebens verbracht habe.

Gut erreichbare (Straßenbahn und Expressbus) Unterkunft einer großen Kette. Der Bau sieht von außen aus wie ein Containerbau. An der Rezeption musst erstmal das für mich wichtigste geklärt bzw. nachgebucht werden: das Frühstück. Seltsamerweise konnte dies weder während der Buchung im Internet noch durch die Hotline hinzugefügt werden. Am Tresen konnte mir auch nicht gesagt werden, warum dies nicht möglich ist aber immerhin konnte dort dann das Frühstück hinzubuchen. Trotzdem gab es zwei Rechnungen weil “das Frühstück der Rechnung für das Zimmer nicht hinzugefügt werden kann [sic!]” Sehr seltsame Sache. Weiter im Zimmer

Ein Doppelbett mit zwei angenehm harten Matratzen nimmt den größten Teil des Zimmers ein. Vor der bodentiefen Fensterfront steht ein kleiner Schreibtisch und an der Wand ist ein Fernseher montiert. Tresor und Garderobe runden, neben dem obligatorischem Wandbild, das Zimmer ab. Weiter ins Bad welches um einiges größer ist als es bei ähnlichen Hotels anderer Ketten der Fall ist.

Das Frühstück (siehe oben) birgt dann doch noch eine negative Überraschung. Bei einem Preis von 15 Euro werden einem zwei Sorten von Aufbackbrötchen serviert. Ernsthaft? Das Buffet bietet ansonsten eine gute Auswahl und wird durch das Personal regelmäßig aufgefüllt. Für mich gab es an dem Morgen nur Brot und den Entschluss hier keine Nach mehr zu verbringen. Auch wenn dies ein absolutes Luxusproblem ist gibt es in diesem Teil Münchens auf engem Raum viele Hotels zur Auswahl.

This has become my favourite barbershop in Abu Dhabi. The prices are reasonable for the location and the staff are very friendly and skilled. I like the ease of just booking an appointment online and the fact that the staff remembers how I want my beard trimmed.

I stayed here for a couple of weeks in January 2023 and enjoyed my time very much. I stay in a lot of hotels and the Cristal is certainly one of the smoothest and most professionally managed ones. The room was spacious and always kept spotlessly clean. The breakfast is on point, plus you have a nice view over the city from the breakfast room.
Everyone I interacted with wasn’t just friendly, but knowledgeable and focused on making my stay easy.
Sure, there are fancier hotels in Abu Dhabi, but that’s besides the point. You want a hotel that works and which is professionally run. The Cristal certainly is, so I can only recommend it.

Hier ist die Zeit stehen geblieben. Ein bisschen zumindest. Der Interieur ist gediegen, das Personal trägt durchgehend Dienstbekleidung in der Art einer Uniform und es wird keine Musik im Hintergrund gespielt. So weit, so gut. Aber deswegen kommt niemand in die Holländische Kakaostube. Vor allem ist man hier wegen der Torten und Kuchen. Deren Auswahl ist groß und eine sieht besser aus als die Andere. Die Entscheidung fällt schwer aber mit einer Sahnetorte ist man immer gut bedient.

Die Torten werden am Tresen geordert, dort wird einem ein Bon überreicht und anschließend sucht man sich einen Platz. Dort nimmt das Personal dann die Getränkebestellung entgegen und kommt mit beiden wieder an den Platz.

Satt und zufrieden kann dann beim freundlichen Personal sogar mit Karte bezahlt werden. Wenn es die Temperaturen und das eigene Wohlbefinden zulassen kann auch draußen vor dem Kaffee Platz genommen werden.

Alles in allem eine Institution in Hannover dessen Besuch sich immer lohnt.

A nice cafe with two outdoor seating areas, one with a view to the cathedral. The staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, the food includes muffins only as a vegan option.
The toilets are at the same level, but probably not accessible by wheelchair because of narrow doors.
In principle also a nice place for working, sockets are scarce though.

I liked it here. I ordered a Vegan Scampi Pizza, mostly for the novelty value, because I had never seen vegan scampi. Interesting. Looks-wise 100% on point, taste-wise not bad. The scampi seem to be made from some sort of mushroom and so have a bit of a mushroom feel. As pizzas go, this wasn’t a bad one. As always, the cheese wasn’t all there. I really do wish there’d be better tasting vegan pizza cheeses, but alas… I’d come here again, though, because the restaurant is nice and the menu has a lot of options. It’s a good place if you’re looking for a somewhat more upmarket Italian restaurant.

Vegan Scampi Pizza

I walked past this a few times on my way to other places in this neighbourhood mall and I always thought it’s your typical Arabic coffee-shop type of establishment with the usual, mostly meat-heavy, menu. Today, I stopped to have a look at the menu and I was surprised to find a fair few vegan options, so I stayed for dinner.
Among others, the menu featured a vegan Impossible burger, a dish with no-chikn vegan chicken, several salads, and vegan bolognese sauce for pasta.
I settled for the burger, which was okay. It looked good, but was bit dry. The fries that came with it, though, were very good. I feel that I might have picked the wrong dish or simply the wrong time. I’ll give this place another shot, although because there isn’t much to chose from vegan-wise in the mall.
